Healy: We were too relaxed
Mayo stopper John Healy is hoping that the somewhat demoralising defeat against Dublin last weekend will prove the wake-up nudge that the Westerners needed.
Boasting a perfect league record prior to their trip to Parnell Park, Mayo showed old defensive frailties, conceding four goals - even if the result did flatter the Dubs somewhat.
To be fair to Healy, there was little he could do about any of the green flags, but he believes that the attitude of the players beforehand was fatal.
"Personally," he told the Irish Daily Mirror , "I think we were way too relaxed going into the game.
"I dont think our focus was right for some reason. They turned it on; we didnt."
Mickey Morans men host Tyrone in the final round of matches on April 9, affording them a chance to show that they are capable of bouncing back.
Healy added: "At the same time, wed won our five previous matches and the winning run had to end somewhere. Id prefer it to have ended last weekend than during the summer.
"Now we know what we have to do to make the semi-finals - we have to beat Tyrone."
