McDonald returns for Mayo

  • Mar 15,2006
Mayo talisman Ciaran McDonald has returned to training with the Westerners panel. The former All-Star attended a session in Ballyvarry last night and is a further boost to the table-topping Allianz NFL Division 1A side. Along with the Crossmolina man, Mayo will have captain David Heaney available for Sundays clash with Cork in Castlebar. Heaney was sent off against Monaghan recently as the Westerners continued their unbeaten run, however the Central Disciplinary Committee overturned his one-match suspension on appeal. Mayo, though, will be without the banned David Brady and injured Trevor Mortimer. But, McDonalds return gives manager Mickey Moran a welcome selection headache. Speculation is suggesting that he will take up the full forward berth after Ger Bradys form, in replacing McDonald, at centre forward has been so impressive.
