1999 Mayo Senior Football Final

Crossmolina Deel Rovers              0-9          Ballina Stephenites         0-7

Croosmolina Deel Rovers overcame North Mayo rivals Ballina Stephenites in the 1999 Mayo Senior Football Final, which was played in MacHale Park, thus avenging their defeat to the Stephenites in the 1998 decider, and in the process winning their third Mayo Senior title.

Playing with the breeze in the first half Crossmolina opened up an early lead with points from Michael Moyles and Pat McAndrew. Liam Brady and Ciaran McDonald exchanged poits, before efforts from Liam Brady and Keith Lynn brought the sides level.  Crossmolina responded with points from Gerry O’ Malley and Enda Lavelle, before Liam Brady had the last score of the half to leave the Deel Rovers 0-5 to 0-4 ahead at the break.

An early point from Paul McGarry brought the sides level, but that was as good as it got for the Stephenites.  Crossmlina were well on top throughout the field and points from Ciaran McDonald, James Nallen and Michael Moyles left them three clear as the game entered its dying stages.  Ger Brady reduced the deficit before Noel Convey and Keith Lynn exchanged late points to leave Crossmolina champions on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-7.

On the way to the final, Crossmolina overcame Knockmore by 2-13 to 2-8, Garrymore by 4-14 to 1-7, and Castlebar Mitchels in the semi-final by 1-13 to 0-8.
