Sean’s connection with Ballina Stephenites stretched across decades, where he contributed not only as a player but as a tireless leader, mentor, and ambassador. His achievements on the field included winning a Mayo Senior League Medal in 1971, captaining his side to McKane Cup success in 1973, and later capturing the McKane Cup again with St. Pat’s in 1975. He also proudly won a Mayo Masters Championship Medal in 1977.
Off the field, Sean’s influence was even greater. He served as Club Chairman on three separate occasions—from 1975 to 1978, again from 1984 to 1986, and then from 1993 to 1996, making him the first to hold the chairmanship a record three times. Sean also served as Club President. His steady leadership helped guide the club through crucial periods, including hosting the first annual G.A.A. Congress in Ballina in 1978 and the club’s historic tour of the USA in 1980.
Beyond his work as chairman, Sean remained deeply committed to ensuring the club’s future. He acted as Honorary FÁS Supervisor for the club, served as Club Representative on the Mayo County Board, and was later appointed  History Officer of the Mayo County Board. He also represented Ballina Stephenites on the Cross Border Initiative Committee in 2000, reflecting his dedication not just to the club, but to the wider GAA community.
