Match day information for this weekend’s Round 2 Allianz National Football League Division 1 game between Mayo and Galway.

 

A Garda message to spectators travelling to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park this Sunday 2nd of February at 2:30pm for the Allianz National Football League game between Mayo and Galway.
As parking around Hastings Insurance MacHale Park is limited, there will be no public parking around An Sportlann car park.
Patrons are advised to arrive early and obey all the stewards and Gardaí on duty inside and outside the grounds.
All Mayo GAA supporters are asked to obey all byelaws and show consideration for local residents when parking. Parking by supporters along the N5 is not recommended for health and safety reasons. There will be ample free car-parking spaces for supporters within the environs of Castlebar itself
Turnstiles will open at 1pm on Sunday with the game set to start at 2:30pm. Supporters entering the stand can access the stadium via the An Sportlann car park while those entering the terraces can access the grounds via the turnstiles on MacHale Road. Supporters are asked to have their digital or printed tickets ready for scanning on arrival at the turnstiles.

The GAA announced earlier this year that there is a charge for U16’s attending Division 1 games. Children’s tickets for Division 1 football will cost €5 and can only be purchased alongside an adult ticket.
If any child/children leave the stadium during the game they will not regain access due to their ticket been already scanned.
Match day programmes will be available to purchase inside and outside the grounds.

Scór na bPáistí Competitions
To avoid any unexpected and potentially disappointing scenarios later on, mentors are encouraged to fully familiarise themselves with all rules associated with whichever disciplines they choose to enter children into.
 As with last year, two acts from each of the eight disciplines will progress from each divisional final to the Scór na bPáistí County Final, which will be held on Saturday March 8th in Tooreen Hall.

Mayo GAA Senior Football manager Kevin McStay and his management team has named the team for the opening round of the Allianz National Football League Division one game against Dublin this Saturday 25th January at 7:30pm in Croke Park.

 

Mayo and Dublin will meet for the 40th time in the League on Saturday evening, with the first meeting taking place in 1934, and the most recent in 2024.  Mayo have won 13 of the previous 39 meetings, with Dublin winning 22, and four drawn games in 1934, 1996, 2009 and 2014. The 2010 meeting between the counties in MacHale Park was abandoned at half-time due to fog, and was refixed with Mayo winning by 0-20 to 0-8.
Croke Park has become a familiar venue for Mayo in the league, and Saturday’s game will be the 55th League game that Mayo have played there, including 17 appearances in finals.  Only MacHale Park Castlebar and James Stephens Park Ballina have hosted more Mayo league games.

Young Breaffy forward Davitt Neary is in line to make his first competitive debut with the Mayo senior team.

Stephen Coen Hollymount Carramore Club will captain the team on the day. This game will be played under the new rules. Down referee Paul Faloon will be the man in the middle for this encounter.

 

The Allianz National Football League Division 1 matchup between Mayo and Dublin will be broadcast live on TG4 with coverage beginning at 7:15pm.

With the new season ahead and due to the shortage of referees at adult and underage level, Coiste na Réilteoirí are running a new referees course to qualify participants to referee at football and hurling.

With our resourses stretched, clubs are encouraged to identify candidates who could make the step across to refereeing. This is a great way to learn about the game and it’s rules, keep fit and give something back to the game.
