Mayo have played 22 championship games in Hyde Park, their first being a 1-12 to 1-9 victory over Roscommon in 1975.  15 of those meetings have been against Roscommon, with Connacht Finals against Sligo (3) & Leitrim, and qualifier games against Westmeath, Limerick & Cavan making up the rest.  Mayo have 16 wins against 6 losses in Hyde Park, their last loss there coming in 2001, back to back defeats to Roscommon in the Connacht Final & Westmeath in what was Mayo’s first outing in the newly introduced qualifiers.
Barry Cassidy from Derry has been announced as the referee for the game on Saturday.

Mayo Senior Hurling team named to face Donegal

Nickey Rackard Cup Final
Mayo senior hurling team named to face Donegal.
The Mayo GAA senior hurling management team of Brian Finn and Ray Larkin have named the same starting fifteen that played against Roscommon for their crucial Nickey Rackard All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final against Donegal this Sunday 2nd June at 4:15pm in Croke Park. The side will be captained by Tooreen’s David Kenny from centre back with lively Shane Boland, Eoin Delaney and industrious Cormac Phillips leading the attack. The ever-dependable Bobby Douglas starts in goal with the assiduous Luke Connor and teak tough Conor Murray flanking Oisin Greally in the full back line.  Conal Hession and Eoghan Collins are on the wings beside David Kenny in a powerful Mayo half-back line. Ballyhaunis club man Eoghan Collins played senior football for Clare and is a nephew of former Clare manager Colm Collins.  The hard-working John Heraty and the deadly accurate Sean Kenny continue at midfield with Sean Regan, the hard running Adrian Phillips and Liam Lavin completing the Mayo half forward line. There is one change on the Mayo bench with Sean Mulroy from Ballyvary Hurling Club coming in for Westport’s James Gallagher.
Down official Peter Owens will referee the Nickey Rackard cup final on Sunday.
The game is live on TG4 and on Midwest Radio with commentary from Michael D McAndrew and Frank Browne. Mayo GAA will have live updates and all the reaction afterwards across all Mayo GAA social media channels on Sunday.

AbbVie and Mayo GAA announce new multi-year sponsorship agreement

AbbVie and Mayo GAA announce new multi-year sponsorship agreement

Westport biopharmaceutical company AbbVie agrees three-year sponsorship of the Mayo GAA Adult Football Leagues

Partnership forms part of the ongoing commitment of AbbVie and the GAA to improve the health and wellbeing of local communities

Mayo GAA and biopharmaceutical company AbbVie have announced a new sponsorship arrangement that will see the company become the official sponsor of the Mayo GAA Adult Football Leagues. The Mayo County Board advised club delegates at their most recent board meeting that the Westport biopharmaceutical company would be the adult league sponsor for the next three years.

This new sporting partnership further underscores the biopharmaceutical company’s support of local communities and sports organisations. AbbVie is also the main sponsor of Sligo GAA and LGFA senior football teams and was the principal sponsor of the recent OsKaRs fundraising event for Westport GAA.

Established in 1977, AbbVie’s Westport facility is a centre of excellence for aseptic sterile manufacturing. Many of the company’s 1,400-plus employees are currently involved in the GAA and have previously played the sport at various levels.

Commenting on the new sporting partnership, Darren Egan, Site Head at AbbVie Westport said: “We are delighted to partner with Mayo GAA as official sponsor of the Adult Football Leagues. The GAA plays an incredibly important role in the lives of many of our employees in Westport, and indeed employees at our other sites in Cork, Sligo and Dublin, so it’s pleasing to be in a position to help nurture and support the game across the county.”

Welcoming AbbVie as a new sponsor this year, Mayo GAA Cathaoirleach Seamus Tuohy said the County Board and all the GAA clubs in Mayo were looking forward to working with such a reputable local and global company in the weeks and months ahead.

“AbbVie is a global leader in the biopharmaceutical industry with a significant footprint now in Mayo and we are all delighted to welcome them on board as new sponsors this year. AbbVie is a world leader in research and development and like Mayo GAA one of their goals is to help people lead healthier lives.”
