Match Information for the Allianz National Hurling 3A League Final

A message to spectators travelling to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park this Sunday the 31st  of March for the Allianz National Hurling 3A League Final game between Mayo and Sligo.
As parking around Hastings Insurance MacHale Park is limited, there will be no public parking around An Sportlann car park due to the Castlebar 9’s taking place.
Patrons are advised to arrive early and obey all the stewards and Gardaí on duty inside and outside the grounds.
All Mayo GAA supporters are asked to obey all byelaws and show consideration for local residents when parking. Parking by supporters along the N5 is not recommended for health and safety reasons. There will be ample free car-parking spaces for supporters within the environs of Castlebar itself. Safe travelling to everyone.
Turnstiles will open at 12:30pm on Sunday with the game set to start at 2pm. Supporters entering the stand can access the stadium via the An Sportlann car park while those entering the terraces can access the grounds via the turnstiles on MacHale Road. Supporters are asked to have their digital or printed tickets ready for scanning on arrival at the turnstiles.

All-Ireland B Hurling Quarter Final Match Report

All-Ireland B Hurling QF match report.

 

Mayo 2-10 Donegal 0-14.

Mayo had to come from behind to snatch a very hard fought victory against a very plucky Donegal outfit in Letterkenny this afternoon. Donegal were much the better side in the opening half and led 0-08 to 1-03 at the short whistle with Donegal wing forward Brendan Gaffey hitting some superb frees for the home side. Mayo had to do some ferocious defending in the opening half to stay in the game and great credit must go to their back sextet. Upfront the scores were hard come by and some wayward shooting from the Mayo half forward line rocked their confidence early on. In fairness, when the visitors settled Ronan Fallon the Mayo full forward led by example. He was instrumental in Mayo’s survival in the opening half hitting 0-03, two of the scores coming from difficult frees. Fallon was the fulcrum for every Mayo attack and his power and ball winning ability were crucial. After twenty minutes Donegal were struck a hammer blow when Eoin Walsh received his marching orders after two clumsy fouls right in front of referee Colm McDonald. The Antrim official had no choice but to flash two yellow cards in quick succession. Mayo circled the wagons and right on the stoke of half time Colm Enright pounced for a brilliant individual goal. The Castlebar club man had loads of work to do when he collected the sliotar on the left wing. He jinxed past two defenders before flicking the sliotar over the out rushing Donegal custodian Joseph Patton. The second half produced more drama with Mayo getting their noses in front for the first time. Ronan Fallon drove a pile driver of a shot into the Donegal net after ten minutes. Further points from Sean McGee, Enright and Eoin Ryan had Mayo in the driving seat before a Lazarus like finish from Donegal. Brendan Gaffey, Dáire Tully and Gaffey again levelling the score late in the game and time almost up. Mayo however had one more roll of the dice and two sublime scores from Colm Enright, one a first time volley saw them over the line at the finish. It was a superb game of hurling with both sides showcasing wonderful skill.

 

Mayo now advance to play Roscommon.

Mayo Senior Hurling Team Announced for League Final

Mayo GAA Senior hurling management have made one change to the starting team ahead of the Allianz National Hurling League 3A Final encounter Sligo this Sunday the 31st of March at 2pm in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.
In the line-up alteration, Adrian Phillips of Ballyhaunis steps into the starting team, replacing Michael Farrell. Additionally, Tooreen’s Sean Regan makes a return to the squad. David Kenny will captain the team on the day.
Clare’s Niall Malone is set to officiate as the referee for the game.
Excitement is building, and for those unable to attend, live commentary will be provided by Midwest Radio, featuring Stephen Grealis and Frank Brown.

Mayo U20 Hurling Team Announced

The Mayo GAA U20 Hurling manager Brian Finn and management team have named their starting fifteen ahead of their U20 B All Ireland hurling quarter final against Donegal this Saturday the 30th March at 1:15pm in O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny, Donegal. Players from seven Mayo hurling clubs are involved in the match day fifteen. The clubs are Ballyvary, Westport, Claremorris Hurling, Castlebar Hurling, Caiseal Gaels, Tooreen and Ballyhaunis.

Matthew Connor of Caiseal Gaels will captain the team on the day.

The referee is Michael Connolly of Sligo.

Mayo U20 football manager Peadar Gardiner has made two changes to his starting team for the Eirgrid Connacht GAA U20 football round 2 clash with Galway in Hastings Insurance Mc Hale Park tomorrow evening 27th March at 7pm. Mayo captain and Castlebar Mitchels Sean Morahan comes into the starting 15 to replace Kilmeena’s Jack Mulchrone. The other change sees Garrymore’s Eoin Mc Greal replacing Breaffy’s Yousif Coghill. Midwest radio will have live coverage with Connacht GAA streaming the game. Dermot Lyons from Roscommon is the referee on the day.
