Traffic information for supporters travelling to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park

A Garda message to spectators travelling to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park this Saturday evening the 3rd of February at 7:30pm for the Allianz National Football League game between Mayo and Dublin. Major roadworks are ongoing on the Claremorris Balla road, on the Balla side of the Beaten Path. We suggest you give yourself extra time in case of delays, or use an alternative route where possible to Castlebar. Safe travelling to everyone.
As parking around Hastings Insurance MacHale Park is limited, there will be no public parking around An Sportlann car park.
Patrons are advised to arrive early and obey all the stewards and Gardaí on duty inside and outside the grounds.
All Mayo GAA supporters are asked to obey all byelaws and show consideration for local residents when parking. Parking by supporters along the N5 is not recommended for health and safety reasons. There will be ample free car-parking spaces for supporters within the environs of Castlebar itself
Turnstiles will open at 6pm on Saturday with the game set to start at 7:30pm. Supporters entering the stand can access the stadium via the An Sportlann car park while those entering the terraces can access the grounds via the turnstiles on MacHale Road. Supporters are asked to have their digital or printed tickets ready for scanning on arrival at the turnstiles.

This game on Sunday will result in increased traffic in the Galway, Salthill and Pearse Stadium areas and we urge all Supporters to arrive early, in order to avoid traffic congestion and potential delays entering the Stadium.

This is an all-ticket game and no tickets will be available to purchase at the ground on the day. Tickets can be purchased on line and in Centra and SuperValu Supermarkets in advance of the game. Please have your tickets available for scanning as you approach the Stadium.

Turnstiles will be open at the Main Entrance on Rockbarton Road, at Arus Bóthar na Trá on

Dr. Manix Road and at the back of the stand. Gates will open at 12.15pm.

There are ample Car Parks in Galway City and Salthill and we encourage patrons to use these car parks and walk or take public transport to/from Salthill.

Car Parking is available at St. Enda’s Secondary School on Threadneedle Road, Salthill, H91 X798.

Again, we ask all Supporters to arrive early, and to park legally and responsibly, at all times.

Finally, we appeal to all Supporters to be conscious, mindful and respectful to the needs of our neighbour’s and local residents.

Mayo GAA senior hurling joint managers Brian Finn and Ray Larkin has announced that David Kenny from Tooreen Hurling Club will captain the senior hurling team for 2024.
Adrian Phillips Ballyhaunis will be vice-captain for the 2024 season.
The mayo senior hurler’s get there League campaign underway next weekend Sunday 4th February at 1pm in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park against Armagh.

Mayo GAA senior football manager Kevin McStay has named his team for the opening round of the Allianz National Football League Division one game against Galway this Sunday January 28th at 1:45pm in Pearse Stadium Salthill.
Knockmore’s versatile netminder Colm Reape starts in goals, Ballaghaderreen’s David McBrien returns to the full back line, Jack Coyne Ballyhaunis and Westport’s Rory Brickenden complete the Mayo full back line. Paddy Durcan, the UCD student Sam Callinan and Eoghan McLaughlin make up the Mayo half back line. The experienced Stephen Coen and Castlebar Mitchels Bob Tuohy are named at midfield. Upfront, Aghamore’s Fergal Boland, Jack Carney Kilmeena, and Jordan Flynn from Crossmolina Deel Rovers are named in an impressive half-forward line. The Mayo full-forward line consists of Breaffy’s Aidan O’Shea, Tommy Conroy from The Neale and CLG Beal an Mhuirthead’s Ryan O’Donoghue. Kevin McStay has confirmed that Paddy Durcan from Castlebar Mitchels will captain the Mayo senior football team for the 2024, with Stephen Coen and Tommy Conroy as vice-captains.

Remembering Frank McHale

The Burrishoole community are launching a fundraising campaign to support the family of their beloved friend, Frank McHale, who suddenly passed away after falling ill on St Stephens Day. They aim to provide financial assistance and support to his young family during this challenging time.

Frank, a cherished member of the Burrishoole locality was not only a dedicated member of the community but also a loving husband and dad. Frank selflessly devoted countless hours to community, Clubs & Local fundraisers. His impact and presence will always be felt throughout the Burrishoole area. He touched the lives of many with his kind heart, helping hands, and big smile. Frank was one of life’s good guys.

Recognising the profound impact Frank had on club and community, The community have taken the initiative to launch a campaign, with the goal of providing support to Franks family – Maria, Matthew, Finn, Joseph, Thomas & Maisie. The funds raised will assist with immediate expenses and will also help alleviate the pressures faced by the family as they navigate their new reality.

RIP Sean Mitchell

Mayo GAA are saddened to hear of the passing of Sean Mitchell RIP Moygownagh, Ballina.
Predeceased by his wife Judy, brother Paddy and sister Rita.
Sean will be sadly missed by his family, sons Richard and John, daughters Geraldine, Siobhan and Rachel, their spouses Fiona, Carmel, Evan, Declan and Paul. His grandchildren Sean, Niamh, Aine, Aoife, Eoin, Ryan, Elliott, Devin, Gregory, Julia, Hazel, Fin and Maeve. His sister Maura, brothers Tom, Noel, Brendan and Francis, their spouses and partner, sister in law Mary and brother in law Tommie, nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
Sean will be sadly missed by his club Moygownagh GAA. Sean was their club president and trustee. Sean was instrumental in reforming the club in it’s current structure in the late 1970’s. Through the years Sean held the roles of club treasurer and County and North board delegate. Throughout the 1980’s and early 90’s, Sean served as both selector and manager with many of his club’s successful junior teams and also some of their underage grades.
Remains reposing at his home (F26N2W5) on Sunday 21st January from 2pm until 8pm and on Monday from 2pm until 6pm. House private at all other times. Remains arriving at St. Cormac’s Church, Moygownagh on Monday 22nd January at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday 23rd January at 11am with burial afterwards in adjoining Cemetery.

Mayo GAA senior football manager Kevin McStay has announced that Paddy Durcan of Castlebar Mitchels GAA club will again captain the Mayo senior football team for 2024.
Tommy Conroy The Neale and Stephen Coen Hollymount Carramore will again be joint vice-captains this year.
Paddy made his league debut on the 1st February 2015 against Kerry.
