Launch of Life-Saving Emergency Anaphylaxis Plus Kit Initiative

Mayo GAA is proud to support the launch of the innovative life-saving ‘Emergency Anaphylaxis Plus Kit’, developed by Darren Forde of Eco Powered Cabinets, which was officially unveiled in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park earlier this month.

This pioneering initiative provides publicly accessible cabinets, containing critical, life-saving equipment, which includes EpiPens for adults and children, an asthma inhaler, and Naloxone. Designed to respond to medical emergencies such as severe allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and opioid overdoses, these units have the potential to save lives when every second counts.

Speaking about the launch, Mayo GAA Chairperson Seamus Tuohy stated “Mayo GAA is delighted to support Darren Forde and this exceptional, life-saving initiative. The safety and wellbeing of our members and supporters is always a top priority, and having access to equipment such as EpiPens on site can make a critical difference in an emergency situation. We are proud to play our part in raising awareness and supporting the rollout of these units across our community”

Mayo GAA Health and Wellbeing Chairperson Fran Downey said, “We are delighted to support this important initiative, Mayo GAA is honoured to receive one of these cabinets, ensuring that players, supporters, volunteers, and the wider community have immediate access to essential emergency care in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.”

Mayo GAA also acknowledges the powerful and moving testimonies shared at the launch event by families affected by the absence of such equipment in the past. Their courage underlines the importance of initiatives like this and the real difference they can make. We encourage all clubs and community organisations to support and promote this initiative, helping to ensure that life-saving equipment is accessible and that more people are trained to respond effectively in emergencies.
