RIP Ger Brady
Mayo GAA are saddened to hear of the passing of Ger Brady, Claremorris and formerly of Murneen South, Barnacarroll, Co.Mayo.
Ger will be deeply missed by his loving wife Karen (Bell) and their precious son Dylan, Ger’s parents Gery and Margaret, sisters Elaine Forde, Tara Nally and Louise Grant, brothers-in-law Richard, Colin, Keith, Tomas and Keith, sisters-in-law Aisling, Aimee and Edel, mother-in-law Ann, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
The Claremorris GAA clubman played minor for Mayo in 1996-97 and then U-21 in 1999-2000. He also enjoyed several run-outs with the senior team in ’98-99 and then, several years later, in the 2006 FBD League.
Starting at full-forward, he made his Connacht SFC debut against New York in 1999 and appeared as a sub in Mayo’s subsequent semi-final win over Roscommon.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our former Mayo Senior, U21 and minor Football player Ger Brady following a long battle with illness fought with the same courage, resilience and determination as he brought to the football field. The Gaa community have all many fond memories of Ger as a player on the field and a friend off the field. Ger has touched many lives through his involvement in the Gaa sport and left us with great memories which we will forever cherish. We wish to express our sincere condolences to his wife Karen, son Dylan, his parents, siblings, extended family and many friends. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time” says Mayo GAA Chairman Seamus Tuohy
Ger’s remains will arrive at Gilligan’s Funeral Home Market Square, Claremorris (F12YP74) on Saturday 23rd March from 5pm till 7pm.
Remains will arrive to St. Colman’s Church, Claremorris on Sunday 24th Match for Funeral Mass at 2pm with burial afterwards in St. Colman’s cemetery.
